AND Simon and I went alone with no children (thanks Nana Lol Lol and Poppa John!!!) It was very strange not having to watch them race around causing havoc (and was really lovely) :)

A day of water and beach fun
We took the boys out yesterday on the boat and they were really happy to be on the boat this time! The only tears were about who was going to help daddy drive it!
We didn't manage to catch any keepers, the only fish we caught were on Isaac's little line which only catches little fish but we had a picnic lunch on the boat and then did a little tour down the river to look at all the moored boats.

Ethan was so exhausted he fell asleep on the way back!
We then went to the beach for a bbq dinner.
Aahh, I love living in Arkles Bay :)

The Museum and the Zoo
We have done a couple of family trips in the past couple of days. One to the Museum and one to the Zoo. The museum is fun, but there's lots of hidey places there for 2 small boys ;) We always love the zoo and today we even saw a real kiwi!!!! We had 2 days of lovely weather and yummy picnic lunches. The boys wish their daddy was off work even more so we could all go and do these fun things every day! (although I'm feeling a wee bit exhausted ;))

Our vege garden
Last year we planted a vege garden and we are reaping the rewards!!
So far we have had brocolli, beans, cauliflower, potatoes, tomatoes, silverbeet, comfrey, mint, spring onions, radishes....... haven't had to buy veges from the fruit shop in a very long time!

So far, I have made tomato chutney, lasagne using the silverbeet and potatoes, and I am finding things to do with the excess veges before they go bad! I feel like a Domestic Goddess ;)
We have also planted fruit trees - lemon, mandarin, feijoa, tamarillo and passionfruit, but I guess they take a long time to become established as we haven't had anything from them as yet.
If only bananas grew in the ground :)

Mangawhai
We had a family weekend at Mangawhai where Simon has been working for the past few weeks and the boys had a blast. The unit we stayed in was pretty much right on the beach, and we spent both days there. We went out in the morning for coffee and fluffies and at night Ethan and I slept in the bedroom and Isaac and his daddy camped out in the tent!
It was a really lovely couple of days and the boys were completely exhausted by the end of it!!!

2 days in Pauanui
The boys love going to see their Auntie and Uncle in Pauanui. This time, Ruth and Jack were there too!! The boys loved having someone else to play with, and are learning to share their toys!!
Ethan wasn't very well, covered in excema and a heat rash, so we came home after a couple of days, but we had such fun while we were there!

Our lovely beach
It's a complicated thing when taking our boys to the beach. Ethan doesn't really like the sand or water and takes a long time to come out of the car and onto the beach, where as Isaac loves the sand, chasing the birds and playing in the water. I can't really take them on my own, so yesterday we all went to the beach! The water was beautifully warm and we had a lovely (half hour....) at the beach!!
